I posted this question on Facebook: “What is one of the biggest secrets to being Successful?”

Here are some responses:

“Courage. It’s the tipping point in the elevation of consciousness. You have to have the courage to dream, the courage to act and the courage to see it through. Without courage, you’re probably not growing. Peace.

Clear, authentic desire.

Giving back

Passion

Knowing you are worthy of it…

Diligence and ALWAYS giving 150% to each client

Changing the way you view ‘Success’

There are no secrets… Success is available to everyone… People just need to understand the difference between dreams and goals

I pulled it all together with this statement:

Success is being consistently courageous and in thoughtful, authentic action towards serving a vision that’s bigger than yourself.

Why does this matter?

Because many of us want ‘more’- we want to be our best, our most. We want to live fully  so we can get more and give more. And more often than not it’s the voices in our heads, the pain from our past, and the lies we’ve learned to accept that slow us down and stand between us and a life lived without regret, shared with love, and left in peace.

What to do?

Here’s an exercise for you to walk through:

  1. Write down where you’re Successful in your life – or where you have been successful. Describe in detail your work experiences, qualities and activities in your relationships, your health. Anywhere and any times you’ve considered yourself succeeding.
  2. Once you’ve paused for a moment to take that in, write down what you believe the biggest secret to creating those successes was for you.
  3. And last – ask yourself honestly where you’re applying that pearl of wisdom in your life today. Especially explore if you’re applying it in the areas you most want change.

Next steps after that? Well, if you’re not applying it so well – you have some things to explore and consider. Maybe some different choices to make.

An unexamined life is a little like eating eggs on toast for the hundredth time just because you’ve forgotten the jumbo shrimp and truffle mayonnaise in the back of the fridge. It’s like comparing a Mars bar with Godiva chocolate; Mac with PC (ok, that one’s not fair). But you get the point.

We can’t always see what we’re missing – we’re more likely to sense that something’s missing.

Something that’s worth finding.
