When Intuition Says ‘Yes’, But You Decide ‘No’

Simone was 2 months away from losing her home. She’d lost her job 8 months prior. When she was offered a job as Marketing Assistant, her gut said “No. Don’t take it”.

What would you do?

David was hiking. He came to a fork in the trail. His gut said “Go right”. But that would be an unknown path, and he always went left.

What would you do?

Your intuition. That inner voice that really wants you to trust it – and that you likely follow in some areas of your life (job?), and have likely learned to push away in other areas (love?).

Many prefer safe and familiar paths. We take the job and keep the house. We Go Left on the trail.

One choice ignores intuition, one follows it.

It’s an interesting dilemma, because the more we practice following our intuition, the more we recognize that voice/feeling, and experience it working out. And a positive experience with our own inner wisdom helps us to trust it more, and eventually we’re willing to take larger risks.

But without a track-record it’s pretty tough to be suddenly faced with a huge decision (like walking away from what seems like a necessary job that’ll save your home) and be able to just trust what you feel.

Most won’t.

And I can understand why.

Intuition usually leads us down a path full of unknowns.

Which our spirits crave, but our minds fear.

What To Do About This?

Start practicing.

  • Go Right – literally and figuratively – more often and you’ll notice you’re getting braver.
  • Journal your discoveries as this will grow your awareness.
  • Schedule practicing – maybe on Saturday mornings for an hour you do things you think might be coming from your intuition; and see what happens.

Over time you’ll begin to differentiate between your inner voice and other voices; including fear, which sometimes Loves to disguise itself as intuition.

And remember… It’s very difficult to recognize your intuitive voice when you’re busy, frenzied and in big time ‘doing’ mode. A state of relaxation is important to sense the whispers that are trying to get your attention.
